Delirium Best Practices in Acute Care

Serena Badgley, OTD, OTR/L is a 2021 graduate from the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Pacific University. She is working with Infinity Rehab in an outpatient setting in two of the retirement communities in the greater Portland Metro area. She has a passion for serving the older adult community to improve quality of life by supporting their occupational engagement.

McKenzie Singhal, OTD, OTR/L earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Pacific University in 2015. She currently works at a level one trauma hospital in Portland, OR as an occupational therapist lead. McKenzie also provides care and occupational therapy student supervision at Pacific University’s Interprofessional Diabetes Clinic. McKenzie’s areas of interest include rehabilitation of trauma-related injuries, specialized care practices for the geriatric population, and health literacy. McKenzie enjoys exploring the beautiful landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and yoga.

This course will cover delirium in the acute care setting. This course was created based off of a capstone experience through a partnership with Legacy Health. This course will include information on delirium best practices for occupational therapists and rehabilitation teams in acute care settings, barriers to implementing best practices, and solutions for overcoming barriers.
