Application and Nominations

The OTAO Nominating Committee has opened the following positions on the Board of Directors for the Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon. The report of the Nominating Committee is subject to the right of any member to apply for or make nominations provided that submissions are filed with the Nominating Committee at the following link by March 22, 2021.

OTAO is notifying membership of the current slate of candidates for committee and director positions and is requesting applications and nominations for the following open positions. The Vice President position is an elected position and will be voted on by OTAO membership if more than one application is submitted. The remaining positions are board appointed. If more than one nomination for each position is received from membership, the board of directors will appoint the most qualified applicant.

Vice President Primary Job Function: The Vice-President shall actively assist the President in the discharge of all duties, and shall discharge the duties of the President in the President’s absence, or in the event of a vacancy in that office. The Vice-President shall be a resource in regards to the OTAO By-Laws, and the Policies and Procedures (including the Standard Operating Procedures) and to update them accordingly. Term: 2 years Procedures: Attend all board meetings Report to the membership, any changes to standard operation procedures and Bylaws for membership vote Submit an annual budget request
Legislative Primary Job Function: Work with lobbyist and Board of Directors, assist, create and carry out action plans to defend or assist OT practice in Oregon. Term: 2 years. Procedures: Attend all board meetings, collaborate with the State of Oregon Occupational Licensing Board for both legislative and licensing issues, collaborate with AOTA on both state and federal legislative issues that effect OT practice in Oregon.
Continuing Education Primary Job Function: Coordinate the activities of OTAO and Regional Representatives to promote continuing education to the membership, including quarterly CE events and annual conference. Term: 2 years
Marketing Chair Primary Job Function: Coordinates the functions of the marketing, to meet the needs of the community practitioners and market the functions of OTAO. Term: 2 years Complete public relations and advertising activities Assist in the recruitment of new OTAO members through marketing Maintain OTAO product lines Maintain accurate records regarding financial expenditures Report activities to social media and website Coordinate maintenance and assure accuracy of website and social media accounts
Membership Primary Job Function: Supportsmembership growth by actively recruiting, retaining, and engaging members by identifying potential new members, contact lapsed members, and engage current members. Provide input and feedback regarding membership needs, programs and policies. Term: 2 years
Faculty Liaison Primary Role: to represent the perspective of the faculty from Linn-Benton. Term: a minimum of one year Shall be a liaison between faculty and the Board of Directors and a voting member of the Board of Directors Duties: Provide the board with updated information on issues affecting the education of the OT profession
Primary Job Function: Act as a liaison between OTAO and the membership in their region Term: 2 years Procedures: Attend board meetings (4-6 per year) Organize regional meetings and/or OT Night Out events Coordinate continuing education events as appropriate to meet the needs of the region Respond to inquiries about OTAO from newly licensed therapists and/or prospective members
Primary Job Function: Act as a liaison between OTAO and the membership in their region Term: 2 years Procedures: Attend board meetings (4-6 per year) Organize regional meetings and/or OT Night Out events Coordinate continuing education events as appropriate to meet the needs of the region Respond to inquiries about OTAO from newly licensed therapists and/or prospective members
